About a week or 2 ago, I had reconstructive knee surgery. For those of you that responded to one of my posts about my left knee problem, I recently visited a doctor that had the answer. He is the New Jersey Devils doctor and he knows what he is talking about. If anyone in the New Jersey area would like his name I would be more than happy to give it to you.

He looked at my knee and the swelling and realized that my old doctor pulled my knee cap over which created a major "ditch" in the knee, which than caused all the swelling.

To make a long story short, the knee was cut open with a 4 inch incision on the left and a 1 inch incision on the other side of it. The muscles were pulled down to support the patella, and the tendons and ligaments were all touched and adjusted in one way or form. The knee was given the full treatment and was than closed up.

I just wanted to thank all those who gave me support when I first came here about this problem, and this was just an update on my knee.

The next task is to grow my cartilage in a lab and implant it back into my knee. If anyone for any reason would like pictures of the knee, I would be more than happy to post them here or email them to you.

Thank you once again,
Chris

Good to hear you're doing alright! Let it heal and then get back in action! :)

Having gone under the knife myself I know what a bear recovery is; slow, painful, and frustrating. Best advice I could give you is trust your Doc and not some gym rat who "had the same op before and he was just fine in 4 weeks". Before you know it you will have healed properly and can begin running/skating again. :lifter

Thanks for the support guys, and yeah the recovery sucks. I am not one to sit around, and thats all I can do, although I am walking and getting pretty good at it. I just visited the doctor a couple of days ago, and he gave a lot of support which was really nice. All I've been doing, is running my ice machine, and building model kits.
Thanks for the replies,
Chris
