12TH ANNIVERSARY OF
BOMBING REMEMBERED
BUENOS AIRES -- Hundreds of Argentines bowed their heads in silence Wednesday, marking the 12th anniversary of the car-bombing of the Israeli Embassy that killed 22 people and injured 353 more.
Some relatives of the victims of the 1992 bombing denounced Argentine authorities for failing to find those responsible. The attack has been blamed on Islamic militants but no arrests have been made.
A siren wailed at 2:47 p.m., the exact time of the blast that leveled the three-story building. Dozens of officers from Argentina's elite police force stood guard on rooftops.
